The importance of maintenance

 Today I want to write a little bit about maintenance. When an app or software has major problems or completely stops working, something needs to be done to fix this. Developers can’t just completely forget about their app once it’s released. In fact they might never be able to just completely forget about it because people can find issues in the app all the time after it has been released. This is why maintenance is very important. 

Apps and software need maintenance in order to keep them up to date. If there was no maintenace, apps could be vulnerable for example for a data breach or other security issues. With maintenance, apps can updated constantly to prevent such issues. Maintenance also includes making updates for the app in order to make it work better and smoother based on received feedback. Users could find a feature in the app that is not working properly or very difficult to use. With updates, these features can then be replaced by better functioning features in order to make the app work better. 

Maintenance can sometimes be overlooked when developing apps or software. However, this can be a critical mistake for the app’s usability. You realise this when you download an app and at first it works very well, but every week it just seems to get worse and worse. Then you realise the app is updated once a year if even that. At some point you just won’t want to use a poorly functioning app and decide to replace it with an app that is constantly up to date. At this point you realise how important maintenance actually is. 

In conclusion, maintenance could be crucial for your app’s success. An app could be succesful without maintenance for a little while but sooner or later users will find issues to be fixed or features to be replaced. People don’t want to use a poorly functioning app with all kinds of security issues. Some kind of maintenance is necessary to keep people using it for a long time.
